I’ve been thinking about motherhood a lot lately. It’s what consumes my days and nights so I guess that shouldn’t really be a surprise.

There has been a lot of noise on social Media regarding motherhood lately. Campaigns about Mom Shaming , breastfeeding , post partum bodies , etc. have been floating around a lot. I think it’s wonderful that we are addressing these topics as a community. I think it’s necessary. But sometimes it’s also just all a bit much.

With the dawn of social media and the onslaught of screens comes constant commentary. You now don’t have to guess what anyone is thinking. They just go ahead and tell you. Send you a DM, comment on your post, follow or unfollow you, like, etc.

When it comes to the incredible task of parenting, I feel a mute button is necessary. We need to ask those around us who we are in close relationship for help or guidance, and then we need to use our off button and mute button for everything else.

Our inboxes are flooded with articles regarding sleep schedules , feeding schedules , milestones and motherhood mishaps to avoid. We can information overload and forget there is a brain and intuition living inside of us that is God-given.

I’m doing a study on the Holy Spirit by Priscilla Shirer right now, and I think it’s coming at a pinnacle point in my life. I need to tune into the Lord more than ever. I’m shaping and raising another Human. I’m his picture of Jesus right now , and that can be a bit intimidating to think about.

I spend a lot more time consulting Google than I do Jesus about motherhood, and sisters, that’s just plain foolishness. So if you’re like me – put down the browser and pick up the Bible. Pray like you’ve never prayed before. Cause motherhood is the most important role we are in right now. Let’s treat it as such – and consult the only one who matters.
